The Starlight Initiative was present for two important reasons at the IAU General Assembly, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in August 3-14, 2009. On August 14th, the Resolution on “Defence of the night sky and the right to Starlight” has been approved during the Closing Ceremony.
